1. Accessibility Requirements and Applicable Criteria

The digital accessibility requirements are outlined in Legislative Decree of May 27, 2022, No. 82 “Implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 17, 2019, on the accessibility requirements for products and services”, which refers to the technical standard UNI EN 301549.

Specifically, website compliance must be assessed according to the criteria indicated in chapters 9 “Web” and 10 “Non-web Content”, which refer to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level A+AA.

The four core principles of digital accessibility, as defined by WCAG 2.1, are:

  • Perceivable – Content is presented in a clear and understandable way.
  • Operable – The interface is easily navigable by all users.
  • Understandable – Information and operations are intuitive and easy to interpret.
  • Robust – The website is compatible with common assistive technologies.

In line with the aforementioned UNI EN 301549 standard, which clearly lists the 50 success criteria for assessing website accessibility, technical analyses were conducted on the website content including textual and non-textual information, downloadable documents and forms, and bidirectional interaction methods such as processing digital forms and completing authentication, identification, and payment processes.

Areas Excluded from Application

Article 1, paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree No. 82/2022 states that the provisions do not apply to the following website contents and mobile applications:

  • pre-recorded time-based media published before June 28, 2025;
  • office file formats published before June 28, 2025;
  • online maps and mapping services, provided that essential information for navigation maps is made available in accessible digital form;
  • third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by the concerned economic operator nor under its control;
  • website and mobile application content considered as archives, meaning that it contains only content not updated or revised after June 28, 2025.

2. General Description of the Service

This website targets end consumers and offers a retail service for the Pissei brand, providing the opportunity to discover, select, and purchase the company’s products.

Users can explore the site using filters, add items to the cart or wishlist, register for access to a personal area, and manage orders, returns, and personal details. In addition to the complete purchase process, the site also allows users to purchase gift cards, subscribe to the newsletter, consult customer service, and contact the company.

3. Service Functionality

The site is accessible from desktop, tablet, and smartphone devices via all major web browsers and is available in Italian, English, and French.

The website navigation is designed to be intuitive and consistent, with a main menu allowing direct access to the most relevant sections of the site.

Below is an overview of how the main services work:

  • Browse products: users can browse the various products offered by selecting categories for women, men, and children in the menu, and using dropdowns to filter by product type.
  • Add products to favorites: users can save products by clicking the dedicated icon in the product preview or on the product page. All favorited items are shown in the “Wishlist” page, accessible via the menu. From there, users can add them to the cart or remove them.
  • Make a purchase: users can purchase desired products by selecting the item and clicking “add to cart” on the product page after choosing the size. To checkout, click the menu option at the top, proceed to the next screen, log in or enter personal details without registering, and select a payment method. Once all fields are completed, the order can be submitted.
  • Purchase a gift card: users can buy a gift card by accessing the dedicated menu option. On the page, users fill out a short form and add the voucher to the cart. The purchasing process then continues like any other product.
  • Access the reserved area: users can register or log in to their personal area by clicking the appropriate menu items in the dropdown. After entering the required information, they can access their account or create a new one.
  • Request a return: returns can be requested by both registered and unregistered users. Simply go to the “Request a Return” section from the menu and fill out the form. Registered users can also submit the request from their personal area.
  • Search navigation: users can directly search for a product by entering a keyword in the search bar at the top of the page (header).
  • Filter navigation: within product pages, users can refine their search using various filter options.
  • Request information: to receive support or clarification, users can contact the company via email, phone, or by filling out the form on the “Contact” page, accessible via the footer.

4. Meeting Accessibility Requirements

To improve accessibility and user experience, FFW S.r.l. has integrated the UserWay PRO accessibility widget into the website covered by this statement. Its use by website visitors is completely free and helps enhance the site’s compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
UserWay PRO offers multiple features to improve website accessibility and user experience through a dedicated panel accessible by clicking the widget icon or using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+U, as listed below.

  • Screen Reader: reads all page content aloud without needing an external screen reader.
  • Dictionary: allows access to dictionary lookups without leaving the website. Essential for users with cognitive disabilities, non-native English speakers, and more.
  • Larger Text: increases on-screen text size with four levels of magnification, improving readability across the site.
  • Saturation: adjusts site color intensity to high, low, or grayscale.
  • Contrast: inverts site colors or switches between light and dark contrast modes.
  • Smart Contrast: ensures all site colors fully comply with ADA standards for better content visibility.
  • Highlight Links: highlights links, buttons, and other interactive elements with bright, high-contrast colors, improving usability, navigation, and general accessibility.
  • Stop Animations: pauses content that moves or auto-updates, preventing distractions and reducing the risk of seizures in sensitive users by stopping flashing animations.
  • Text Spacing: modifies text and line spacing for improved readability, especially for dyslexic or visually impaired users, offering three levels of customization.
  • Line Height: increases line height for more comfortable text spacing.
  • Text Alignment: aligns site text left, right, or center for a more personalized and accessible reading experience.
  • Dyslexia Font: the “UserWay Dyslexia Friendly” font improves readability and provides a smoother experience for visitors with dyslexia.
  • Big Cursor: enlarges the standard cursor size by 400% for constant visibility, enabling easier navigation through hyperlinks, tabs, and form elements.
  • Tooltips: shows alt text and ARIA labels for on-screen elements with a simple mouse hover. Tooltips are high contrast, clearly visible, and easy to read for low-vision users.
  • Page Structure: quickly reveals page headings, landmarks, and links in a clear, structured, navigable, and accessible way. Helps users find content more efficiently.

In addition to the features available from the accessibility menu, the UserWay PRO widget can detect many site non-compliances and automatically apply corrections in real time—without modifying the source code, but only what the browser renders onscreen. This enhances website usability for all end users, including those using assistive technologies.

Web content accessibility for users with assistive technologies—such as screen readers, alternative keyboards, or voice commands—is also supported by ARIA attributes. These describe the role, state, and properties of UI elements, communicate dynamic interactions (e.g., expandable menus, modals, sliders) to screen readers, and support keyboard navigation in complex components.

Additional Accessibility Requirements for E-Commerce Services

The service ensures accessible functionality for identification, security, and payments, using systems that render these features perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Regarding electronic payments, the site uses major market providers, listed below:

Compliance Status

The site's compliance status has been determined using the guidelines and evaluation checklist provided by AgID.

This website is partially compliant with the requirements outlined in Appendix A of the UNI CEI EN 301549 standard and, having been published before 06/28/2025, the company intends to achieve full compliance upon the launch of a future new website.

5. Accessibility Monitoring Process

FFW S.r.l., as part of a future update of the website covered by this statement, will pay close attention to ensuring the service delivery meets the requirements set by digital accessibility regulations. The company may also engage external consultants to support the following tasks:

  • technical accessibility assessment of the website via gap analysis;
  • user testing of key user flows, including use of assistive technologies;
  • review of third-party technologies, plugins, and services implemented on the site;
  • reporting of identified gaps and non-compliance issues from technical checks and tests;
  • validation of corrective actions for identified non-compliance;
  • preparation of accessibility documentation available to the public;
  • staff training on digital accessibility best practices;
  • definition of internal policies and procedures for managing user assistance requests.

FFW S.r.l. plans to carry out regular technical reviews to monitor website accessibility over time, potentially with support from third-party experts in digital accessibility, in order to implement improvements—including those based on user feedback.

In such cases, reviews will be performed by a specialized external consultant using up-to-date tools and standards to reassess compliance through semi-automated code checks, manual user testing, and assistive technology usage.
